Hadi Hasan Hall

A SHORT HISTORY
The construction of Hadi Hasan Hall was completed in 1970. Initially known as ‘325 Hall’, it formed a part of the New Hall f or Boys, along with Ross Masood Hall, known as 480 Hall (325 and 480 were designations according to the number of rooms). The first Provost of the combined Hall was Prof. Abrar Mustafa Khan of Department of Botany.
The ‘325 Hall’ got separated from Ross Masood Hall in the year 1971 and was named after Prof. Hadi Hasan - the distinguished scholar of Persian Literature – for his immense contributions to the University, especially in the  establishment of a Medical College in AMU. The first Provost of the separated Hall was Prof. Iqbal Ashraf.
At that time, the Hall comprised of 3 hostels named after three eminent personalities – Prof. Wali Mohammed, Dr. Khwaja Ghulam-us-Syedain and Khwaja Hameed. The PG hostel and the Annexe were later on added to accommodate the increasing number of students.

EVOLUTION OF THE HALL:
In old days, the present day Dining Hall was the Table Tennis Room (meals were served at the rooms), and  the present Provost Office housed the Common Room. The Provost Office rested in the rooms adjoining the main gate of the Hall (Room no. 17 - 22). The Provost Office was shifted to its present location in the late 70’s.
The canteen was run in a small room (which till recently housed the PCO) until 1997, when the then Registrar Prof. H.A.S. Jafri inaugurated the present canteen.
Flood lighting of the Football field was done in the year 1999. The construction work of the present Masjid was started in 2001.
Room No. 17 now houses the Internet Chamber
